Greek Hotel Classification
Hotels in Greece were once required to publicize a rating system imposed by the Greek National Tourist Board and therefore according to a hotels respective rating there was a limit placed on the prices a hotel could charge for accommodations depending on facilities featured at the hotel (For Instance: public areas, pools, restaurants, activities and in-room amenities). The Free Market Economy now dominates in Greece and hotels can set rates at their own discretion; but due to intense competition hotel rates tend not be exorbitantly high with the exception of peak travel periods.

Hotels, as well as rooms and apartments to let, are still subject to a rating system determined by the Greek National Tourist Organization as follows:

Star ratings: 5*, 4*, 3*, 2*, 1*

Please note that Greece has been fazing out their old ranking system which is as follows:
L, A, B, C, D, E
L (Deluxe) hotels correspond to 5*, A to 4*, B to 3*, C to 2*, and D and E to 1*
